A minority worth almost a billion dollars
Malaysian shoppers pay online mostly with cards and domestic bank payments (DuitNow and FPX), each about 35% of e-commerce transactions in 2026, and with e-wallets at 23%, according to an IDC InfoBrief published by 2C2P. Cash on delivery was about 6% in 2024, worth roughly US$960 million, and IDC expects it to slip to 5% by 2029.
That minority matters to a new store. Buyers who have never heard of you can still order when they pay at the door, which is why couriers keep offering it and why it suits first orders and impulse products.
